Dependent sound denotes that of inherent value which one may either find pleasing or see as a necessity to an end, while Intrusive sound is that which is seen as loathsome, droll, or wholly undesirable.

In music, noise is captured, reinvented, recontextualized to best reflect the reality of human experience. Intrusions, in many cases, are rejected and seen as void of value to this end due to their uninteresting or unsavory existence within that reality. All noise possesses an individually equal value contributing unanimously to understanding one's environment, the basest human experience. To accurately reflect this experience, one must recognize that reality is comprised of intrusions and that rejection of these intrusions is rejection of reality; the noise of a loud vehicle outside an open window or an incessantly barking dog is no less real and musical than a breaking wave or sung melody. Sound must be understood as not a means of creation but the very essence of it, especially that which is unwanted. Intrusions are a necessary component of the music's experiential effectivity. The barking dog complements the tapping of a foot, the singing of a melody. The window does not need to be closed as intrusions bring absolute sincerity to that which is real.
